Landon - Month 5

Landon is now 5 months old.

In the last month...
- He weighs 15lbs 1oz (29th percentile) and is 25" long (26th percentile).

- Landon still loves his hands and feet. About 70% of his time awake is spent with at least one finger (sometimes an entire fist) in his mouth. Lately, it hasn't just been his hands; he has started putting his toes in his mouth on occasion as well.

- Typically, he wakes up just once in the night. When will he sleep through the entire night???

- We play a game at home where one of us holds him and he sees the other one on the left. Landon flips his head around to the right to find that person, and once he does he turns back to the left, then right, back and forth, over and over, usually until we (not Landon) get tired.

- He's on a new medication for his acid reflux. We don't know that it's helping though and judging by the face he makes every time we give it to him (twice a day), it doesn't taste too good either. :(

- Landon is now able to put his pacifier in his mouth (90% of the time). I think this is where we see the most improvement in his small motor skills. Each week it takes fewer attempts for him to get it into his mouth. We are really looking forward to the day he sees it laying next to him in his crib and grabs it himself.

- He now can roll both ways, front to back and back to front.

- We have introduced him to bubbles, and he seems to enjoy them. He doesn't try to pop them yet, but it helps him focus and calms him when he's cranky. (We'll take any advantage we can get, no matter how small or simple!)

- The freeze game - spray a spray bottle near Landon's face and it's like he was hit with a stun gun. His eyes get huge, his arms fly up and he freezes for about 1.5 seconds, then he laughs.

- He went to his first baseball game. Landon and Daniel were decked out in Giants gear, but he slept through a lot of it. Although I would be grumpy if my team was as bad as the Giants, while he was awake Landon did very well. (Luckily, I support the Dodgers, so we don't have to worry about my mood!) He was also great entertainment for the people sitting in the row behind us.

- He has (supposedly) enjoyed his first few Sunday Football days with Daniel while I'm at work. I know that at least one of them loves Sundays.

- I left the boys at home together overnight for the first time. When I came home, the house was still fairly put together and nobody had been to the hospital, so we called it a success! Just kidding...Daniel and Landon did just fine, of course, and had fun (except for a couple of middle-of-the-night awakenings)! And I certainly enjoyed a little girl-time (and sleep)!

- We visited family and friends in San Jose for the first time.

     - It was his very first plane ride and, a little unexpectedly, he was an angel! He fell asleep right after take-off and he woke-up right after we landed...not a single tear (roundtrip)!

     - Landon was able to meet some of his extended family on Daniel's side (pictured below: Thea Voula, Cousins Pam/Andreas/Maria, Papou/Babcia and Theo Tony/Thea Dina) for the first time, as well as some old friends.

     - He went to High Five for the first time and is going to learn to love it like the rest of us!

     - He also visited a winery and met his future good friend Ryan Maisen for the first time (Below: Jeff/Ryan/Melissa and Chris/Linda).

     - We took a daytrip to the ocean (to Capitola, near Santa Cruz).

- He is more vocal these days. He will make a sound and repeat it over and over and over.

- He loves "peek-a-boo" and anything that startles him. It's so funny and I wouldn't guess that it would be so much fun for him, but he laughs hardest and smiles biggest when he is startled.

- He really likes being in his Baby Bjorn facing outward watching the world, particularly outdoors and in new places.

- He is working on sitting up. He can't do it unassisted yet, but he really likes to sit in the Bumbo chair, on laps or on the ground/couch with cushions supporting him.

It's fun to watch his little brain work when seeing new things or playing with new toys. We are loving every minute with him!!!
