March 2017

This month...

I joined my dear friends on our annual '3 Night Wonder' girls' weekend. This time we stayed in Carlsbad with a beautiful view of the beach, rode beach cruisers to the next town, saw a movie, relaxed on the beach and ate, ate, ate.

Grammie and Papa had a great time babysitting one of the days I was away. They even took the kiddos to Pennypickle's Workshop and In N Out Burger (where Brooklyn enjoyed every last drop of her chocolate milkshake)!

We got to keep their doggie, Tyson, at our house for a few weeks, which we loved! The kids fed him and gave him treats. Sometimes TyTy slept on Landon's bed with him. Brooklyn hugged, kissed and snuggled him when he tried to nap, and loved to have him "sit in her lap" (she would sit behind him and sneak up close so it was like he was laying in her lap) and lick her toes.

Then Daddy and the kids had a fun weekend! One day they even went to 3 parks (the goal was 4)!

Amber and I had a night out where we played Left, Right, Center (a dice game) for a fundraiser...and I won the first 2 games (and great prizes!)

Landon LOVES wearing Jacob's hand-me-downs!

Addie's mom, Miss Andrea, invited us to her Messy Play class. Landon and Brooklyn both had a great time! That morning Landon informed me that he was going to marry Addie and that he would pop the question at Messy Play. Before the class they were running around playing until it was time for class. They got up and Landon said, "Oh, I was going to ask a question...Whaaaaaat was it that I going to ask??? OH! Addie...." (At which point I scrambled to get my phone's video camera recording and did just in time!) Then he proposed. Her reaction was amazing, "NO! I can't mawwy you!..." The back and forth was hilarious! And the next time we saw her was the first time we heard her call him her boyfriend...and even their mutual friend, Emma, called him "Addie's boyfriend" instead of Landon (not for lack of knowing his real name).

We spent an afternoon at a new local winery, Avensole. We loved it almost as much as the kids did. They ran around, played chase, climbed up and jumped off of rocks, watched the ducks in the pond and, of course, snacked. We even stayed late to watch and dance to the live piano music at the restaurant.

She wants to be just like him.

Friends of ours held a Bunny Fun Run fundraiser, which was a lot of early Easter fun! Landon loved the Easter bunny:

...Brooklyn did not:

...but all it took was one powdered donut bribe to give him a hug!

Brooklyn was happy to carry the Easter basket "purses" around.

Brooklyn and I got 2nd to last place in the run...perhaps it was because she was the second youngest or perhaps because I dressed her in pretty sandals rather than running shoes, but we did run for most of the 1k run. Actually, for the half of the run that we completed, like many of the young ones. Landon and Daniel were the last ones to finish the run/walk (we'll blame it on his flip flops as well!). They were proud to finish (half of, in Brooklyn's case) the race...and it was for a great cause!

Landon and his best buddy (aka: girlfriend), Addie:

Easter egg hunt and sorting through their loot:

On the way home Landon informed me that it was not a REAL bunny, but rather a person in a bunny costume. What makes him think that? "Because I saw people hair...between the bunny's arm and his glove."

Brooklyn has continued to enjoy gymnastics, especially the trampoline and the rings. Throughout the week she asks if she gets to go to gymnastics today and talks about doing "peek-a-boos (on the bar) with Miss Teena, my dimnastips coats (gymnastics coach)". She's great at the jumping parts, loves the trampoline and the rings, follows instructions pretty well and is working on confidence on the beam as well as forward rolls & (assisted) "handstands".

St. Patty's is always fun! Our leprechaun was mischievous in the kids' bathroom again! (And if you happen to use the upstairs restroom you might notice the remnants of his green footprints on the toilet seat because we didn't think to scrub the paint off for a couple of days...oops!)

Luckily, our kids love all kinds of fruits and veggies because we ate green all day long!! Green pancakes, green eggs, peas, asparagus, brussel sprouts, spinach, sugar snap peas, cucumber, green beans, avocado, apples, etc...plus shamrock shaped sandwiches, gold coin cookies, green pasta (which Landon and I separated from the orange and yellow pasta by hand since the store didn't carry just green) and green trifle dessert (which they had fun helping me make, of course). They loved it all (except for the asparagus)!

And pre-bedtime green glow in the dark fun!

Brooklyn joined the rest of the family in Movie Night, and she is obsessed with "Trolls". She quotes the movie, requests the soundtrack and always asks to watch it.

Brooklyn has recently been requesting Landon be the one to take her night-night. Usually when Mommy or Daddy takes her to sleep, after reading a book to her she lays on our shoulder while we sing before putting her in her crib. So...Landon reads her a book then, since he can't pick her up and hold her, she sits on my knee in front of him so that she can lean on his shoulder with her blanket, hugging him with her eyes closed while Landon sings to her and pats her back or "massages" her leg (because HIS bedtime ritual includes getting a little massage). It's so sweet that she wants him to do this and that he is happy to do it.

They are playing together all the time now, which is so amazing! (Amazing for their relationship and also for my shrinking to-do list!)

Having fun at Mason & Marlee's house:

We had a second fun day at Messy Play this month.

Landon started his first season of a sport, soccer! He came on the team with a couple of buddies, Briella Gallagher and Atlas Morelli. The Raptors have just had a few practices so far, and he has had so much fun each time!

Grammie and Papa came to visit, and Grammie brought a special activity - chocolate pudding letter writing! It was a huge success!

Grammie created 2 monsters - the next day they couldn't just eat the pudding out of the bowl with a spoon...they had to create art projects!

These days Brooklyn's really into kangaroos and loves pretending to be Mama Kangaroo and Joey:

...and baby dolls (and tea parties):

...and animals (still):

...and her cousins:

...and eating (also not a new hobby):

Landon is really into mazes (he completed his 96 page maze book in 4 sittings):

...and playing in the car (and real & pretend cooking):

...and playing at the park:

...and drawing pictures. He went from not drawing people at all (I didn't even think he could) to drawing in such detail to include all of his private parts (including his "booty, booty crack and other booty" - which is a line between 2 circles - and his male parts...and he only describes those in a whisper). The description was too funny not to record when he drew a card for Uncle Peter's birthday:

BEST BUDDIES!

See below bloopers for the next picture on my camera...

Bloopers:
My favorite picture of the month: best buddies...trying to push each other off the big rock (BY THE FACE).

Landon came downstairs during "quiet time" asking me what suspenders were...so I showed him with his nighttime pull-up.
