February 2018

Brooklyn started big girl gymnastics (without Mommy) this month! She and Zoe are in the class together, and they are both doing great! Brooklyn didn't have any problem moving away from the parent-and-me class. The only downside is that getting pictures of gymnastics class is more difficult from the viewing window.

The weekly gymnastics viewing party:

We've been visiting the Duck Pond chasing ducks, watching turtles, running around, climbing on and jumping off of everything a lot lately.

Landon enjoyed dressing up for Western Day.

Zoe enjoyed it too!

Landon continued to do GREAT at karate, and Brooklyn joined a couple of lessons as well. Landon was the youngest one there, so when Brooklyn joined she was by far the youngest. She did a really good job and seemed to have fun for as long as she could focus. The 2 times I didn't take Landon to karate he received his white belt and first stripe. When I asked how he got them, he instantly replied with, "I earned it." How? "By showing GREAT respect (for the belt)/focus (for the stripe)."

Now he even does ninja dances around the house on occasion.

Both kids think it's amazingly funny to tease us, mostly about which sports teams they root for. Landon is pretty steady on NorCal sports teams, but Brooklyn waivers. She will tell Daniel that she loves SoCal teams and me that she loves NorCal teams just to get a (fake) rise out of us. They think it's hilarious!

...and they really love messing with Daddy. Pretending to massage him while making funny faces is hilarious!

We spend many a day dancing in our kitchen. Our favorite family song is "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. It's a great song, but it has so much meaning to us now that we've shared so many dances with each other to it. The kids even dance with each other to it. :)

Daniel had a weekend away with the boys, so I took the kids for a bike ride around Harveston Lake.

The bikes didn't last too long. Brooklyn wanted to show off her pirouettes and arabesques (that she learned about from pictures in the "Fancy Nancy: Budding Ballerina" book) and Landon wanted to climb and jump...so we did.

Landon got a big boy haircut!

Star Wars is still a big deal in this house.

Super Bowl Sunday always reminds us of spending time with Brooklyn in the NICU days after she was born.

We had great pediatric dental check-ups this time. Brooklyn even let the hygienist and dentist use the big kid tools in her mouth.

Landon is all about using Mommy's massage table. He was laying on it one time when I was in the shower, face down, and I asked what he was doing. He said, "I'm waiting for my massage," like "duh!"

Sometimes we picnic in the backyard, which makes eating SO much more fun!
Our future veterinarian practices (mostly fixing "wolf bites") on her stuffed animals, figurines and family members frequently. Please note that pretend lipstick is almost always used as part of the treatment.

She loves wearing necklaces!

We love when Grammie comes to visit!

Landon started his first season of baseball! He and his best buddy, Jackson, are on the Dodgers (YAY!!!) together. They are the only 4 year olds on a team of mostly 7 and almost 7 year olds (some of which who have played on All Stars teams). There's one other girl (7 years old with an older brother than has played for years) who hasn't played before, so Landon and Jackson are starting way behind the rest of the team. We were worried that this might be difficult for him, but the coach, the kids on the team and some of the older siblings of teammates have been so sweet and helpful! And all Landon seems to care about is having fun with Jackson

Daniel sometimes sneaks Landon out of bed after Brooklyn goes to sleep to come in our room and watch the Warriors basketball game with him.
If Brooklyn were here, it would be Daniel's heaven...all of us together, being quiet, with the Warriors on & winning.

Valentine's Day is so much fun with 3 and 4 year olds!

My favorite Valentine's Day card was from Landon. I love my Eiffel Tower! I don't know how he writes backwards like this, but it's so cute!!

Uncle Matt Matt brought us these really cool ring toys!

We celebrated Melis' birthday with a surprise adult night out.

We stayed the night and got to see Kaylee's horseback riding lesson (and Brooklyn helped brush T-Bird) and Addison's soccer game.

Then we headed to Coronado for (batting practice on) the beach with the Fenwick family.

We made a last minute decision to visit Mission Viejo the next couple of days (while Daddy got lots of work done).

Then home for some quiet time...

...and an afternoon at the park.

Daniel's work had a candy party, so guess who got the spoils?! Thanks, Daddy!

Playing princesses before bedtime:

Brooklyn and Daddy had a date at their favorite place, Luv 2 Play.

Future rock climbers:

It doesn't happen often, but one night Brooklyn just wanted to snuggle with Daddy so he happily obliged.

Always climbing:

She's such a cutie!

We signed Brooklyn up for preschool. She'll be attending Giggles and Gluesticks in the fall and is very excited to be in the same class as Zoe!

We played 'Kindergarten' one afternoon, and Brooklyn decided she need to wear 2 backpacks and carry a 3rd bag. Either someone's excited for school or has a love of accessories!

Brooklyn loves going to Costco with me, but this day she decided to rest almost the entire way from the car to the checkout line, not sleeping but laying in the bottom of the cart. It was so strange!

Bloopers:
Brooklyn LOVES the bars, but one day she was NOT having it when Coach Elaine wanted her to put her toes up on the bar. It started with her trying to hold back a frown, then a big frown, then full crying. However, as she was crying she did everything the coach asked her to do, then she was totally fine.

This is what I found when I looked under the public bathroom stall: my son takes his shoes, shorts AND underwear all the way off and leaves them on the public restroom floor. YUCK!!! And when we had a chat about it, he informed me that it was not the first time he had done such a thing (and eventually assured me that it would be the last time).
