We now have a 5 year old boy!
And having Easter on April 1st got this month started off on the right celebratory foot! We spent Easter weekend in Mission Viejo attending Bunny Days (egg hunting, making slime, meeting princesses, playing blocks, coloring, planting fruits, bounce housing, playing carnival games and eating snow cones)...
Brooklyn colored a crown to give to the Easter bunny, and she was soooo happy when the Easter bunny appeared to love it. |
Look at these baby faces!
...dying eggs and opening baskets...
...hunting for eggs...
...playing...
When we came back home, we discovered that our cricket buddy that we visited in the garage for the month prior had made his way into our kitchen. During Mommy's night out the 3 left at home caught him...yay!
This is what I woke up to on my birthday!
Since the kids were being so nice to me on my birthday, I took them to the mall (which they love and I despise). A train ride for them...
...and a pretzel for me (and them)!
Then, of course, a dance party at home!
I chose Outback for dinner and remembered it was the first restaurant we went to as a family of 4 about 3 years ago, where Daniel ate with Brooklyn sleeping in his arm...so we took a reenactment photo. :)
The Rogers came up and spent a day with us! We all attended Landon's t-ball game before heading to Avensole Winery.
Our beautiful ballerina (who hasn't ever taken a dance class)...
The weather was perfect, so we took a trip to the Splash Park. The kiddos had a blast!
These cousins/siblings love each other so much!!
PJ party!
The day I coordinated a wedding Daniel invited some Daddy friends (and their kids) to Superhero Night in San Diego to watch the Giants play the Padres. They all had an amazing night with their buddies in their costumes!
This kid is trading out some old stuff for new big boy decor in his room.
We love spending time with the cousins!
Landon's t-ball skills are improving. His swing is stronger and running is faster. We're working on paying attention when on the field (in lieu of facing away from the batter with his glove on the ground, dancing, light saber fighting, laying down on the grass, etc.).
And now...all of the birthday celebrations for our big boy! We started off with the Zims in town to celebrate Papa and Landon's birthdays.
Uncle Matt Matt took Landon to pick out a gift, get a haircut and get a mani-pedi. They found out that he has very ticklish feet!
Landon had an incredibly fun birthday party with a Star Wars theme. As we prepped the week of the party, every time he saw a new decoration he lit up so brightly and wanted to help! He made his own signs, which included Star Wars themed jokes. Those moments watching him be so excited may have been better than that party itself (at least for me).
We held a Jedi Training Academy, where the kids battled Storm Troopers.
We pinned the lightsaber on Yoda!
We battled the storm troopers and search for astroids!
Darth Vader (Daddy) even paid us a visit, but the good guys won! Surprisingly, nobody cried (although Zoe was not his #1 fan).
Of course, we had cake! Well, cupcakes...in the shapes of light sabers and storm troopers, as requested.
And there were presents...so many wonderful presents!
It was too windy to destroy the Death Star(s) during the party, but at the "after party" the Kelepouris kids destroyed them again and again!
The girls caught eating the ice from the beverage bucket (yuck!).
On his actual birthday he woke up to a bed of balloons and decorations...
...a sprinkled donut and hot chocolate...
...brought cupcakes to school to share...
...went to Chuck E Cheese's with Brooklyn & Zoe...
...opened gifts...
...went out for dinner...
...and lots of smiles!
Grammie makes the best bubbles!
Big boy got the message that when you're 5 years old you get to be helpful! He assisted with laundry and folded all of these towels by himself...voluntarily! I later found out it was because he was "pretending to be Elastigirl, who does all of the house chores while Mr. Incredible goes to work all day." So aside from the fact that we will be discussing stereotyping gender roles we'll be playing "The Incredibles" each laundry day from here on out. ;)
Greek dress, eating calamari...Papou would be proud!
One thing I love about her at this stage is how often and excited she gets. She often can't catch her breath when talking about something she thinks is exciting (which may or may not actually be exciting)...she gasps in between every few words. It's really cute!
Brooklyn and Daddy had a date night consisting of coloring together in the garage and checking out the new pirate-themed park. She kept telling him it was the "best day ever!" He loved it! But then the following few days were titled "best day ever!" by her, so it wasn't quite as special. Poor Daddy!
Meanwhile, Landon and I went to a middle school production of "The Lion King," which was surprisingly better than I was expecting. Landon got to sit up front and center, next to the aisle where the animals entered/exited, and he seemed to be mesmerized the whole time!
And what's a date night without a little froyo at the end?!
I'm still obsessed with Landon's spelling. Here made me a card that says, "This is all about love." He explained that those are his and my "love trash can buckets and it's actually just one heart moving back and forth between them." (I'm assuming it's something like in the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" Love him!!!
Brooklyn also has a love of books. Here she is "reading" a counting book:
These kids LOVE matching each other! One day Landon was wearing red, white and blue, so Brooklyn ran back into her room, stripped and said, "I can wear my 'Merica shirt and we will be twinsies!" ...and he was just as excited as her.
Landon and I attended Little League Night at the Lake Elsinore Storm baseball stadium with his team (and Auntie Amber & Jacob) while Daniel and Brooklyn went to the Abbott sponsored Heart Walk. Landon got to walk on the field before the game, and later we joined "Mr. John" in a suite. We had a great time! Landon had a blast playing with Jackson and a couple of other teammates, playing peek-a-boo with the first baby he's ever shown interest in, chatting with his coach, sitting with Jacob, making an American Ninja Warrior course in Mr. John's suite and being a crazy, crazy kid right before passing out in the car.
Auntie Amber and Jacob took Landon, who chose to also bring Jacob, on a birthday celebration day. After dinner and a pizzookie, he chose to go to Mulligan's to play arcade games. They had a great time!
Daniel and I watched the little ones, who had the "best day ever!"
