We've had such a fun April, with a bunch of celebrations!
Landon had his second BIRTHDAY, and Brooklyn turned 3 months old! Both kids (and Daniel and I) are doing very well!
- Landon is 28lbs (50th percentile) and 35.5" tall (85th percentile).
- Brooklyn is 12lbs 10oz (61st percentile) and 24.5" long (87th percentile).
Our big boy is getting more and more fun! He chats constantly (until he's in new company and clams up), and he has very quickly learned how to throw a true 2 year old tantrum. Many times it's for no reason (that we can decipher), and it has lasted up to 60 minutes...yes, the rolling around on the ground, flailing limbs kind of tantrum. 98% of the time, however, he's a really good kid that we just LOVE to watch grow and learn.
He has found a new appreciation for art. One day he decided that all he wanted to do was art projects, not go outside and play or read or play with cars.
The next 2 days all he wanted to do was "bake". When asked what he likes to bake, he says "bake flowers" (because I give him flour with utensils to pretend bake). He actually sat in his high chair for 4 hours straight one day, only breaking shortly for food, having the best time and refusing all other offers of fun play. (I made sure that the following day was spent running around outside all day!)
He still LOVES books! He loves to be read to, to "read" the parts of the story he knows and to flip through books on his own.
Gardening is another hobby of Landon's. This month he attempted to grow radishes, flowers and grass. Hopefully his thumb is greener than mine!
Our little girl is also getting to be more and more fun - she's starting to do stuff! Not TOO much, haha...baby steps. She is smiling at us a BUNCH now, though, kicking and squirming when we make eye contact, and she's definitely ticklish! She has started to try to laugh. This "laugh" is currently just a grunting sound, but it is, oh, so cute and definitely a pre-laugh!
She has begun batting at and grabbing toys. Sometimes she pulls them up to her mouth to have a little taste.
Bath time seems to be an all-around family favorite!
Brooklyn has also begun sleeping through the night! Most nights she goes to sleep around 9pm and wakes up around 7am - yea! Yes, we do know how lucky we are, and appreciate every extra hour we get! She's in her own room now too!
I love how tiny they look in the crib when they're so young. (I should have taken this picture 3 months ago!)
Brooklyn has been practicing tummy time more this month. Although she can't yet hold herself up with her arms, she's getting the hang of holding her head up.
She has also started taking a bottle better over the last month. We've been practicing each day with the hope that I can leave the house without her for a chunk of time.
Landon still tries to be helpful with Brooklyn, reading to her to "make Bookin happy", putting in her pacifier (even if he has to take it out first in order to put it back in), shaking her toys for her and even trying to feed her (on my breastfeeding pillow).
We started out the month in Mission Viejo for Easter, Landon's Zim family birthday celebration dinner and my/my dad's/my aunt's birthday celebration dinner. It was a go-go-go kind of a weekend that started with Easter egg dying and Mission Viejo's "Bunny Days" festivities.
The next day was Easter (and the bunny visited and even left tracks) and my birthday, so we had Landon's egg hunt followed by Daniel and my egg hunt (woohoo!), then the adult March/April birthday celebration.
4 days later we set off to San Jose for Greek Easter. It was Brooklyn's first flight, and we got lucky that she didn't seem to notice. Landon carried his own airplane entertainment in his new backpack, which seemed to make him feel like a big boy.
We were able to see family and friends in SJ, introduce Brooklyn to them, enjoy Greek Easter at Papou and Babcia's home, have a date night, let Landon blow out another candle and spend lots of time with family.
On Landon's actual 2nd birthday he had a great day, despite being a little under the weather. He loved the decorations & balloons we had in the house and was very excited to blow out a candle at each meal! We went to one of his favorite spots, the Temecula Duck Pond, and for frozen yogurt during the day. For his birthday dinner he requested nothing other than "PANCAKES!" so that's what we did. :-) He spent the rest of the evening playing with his new toys.
The annual Taste of Temecula was this month as well, so we headed to Old Town for some food, drinks, family fun, and, most importantly, a ride on the mini-train.
Landon blew out candles just one more time at the end of the month when celebrating a couple of b-days with close friends.
We wrapped up the month with his 2 year doctor check-up, and all went well there! He's growing as he should, communicating well and even got a Spiderman bandage after the immunization, a win-win-win!
Wishing everyone a happy May! :-)

Smile, Brooklyn! |

Landon enjoys dressing himself. He appears to get his fashion sense from me, unfortunately for him. |
