October 2016

Brooklyn is now the age that Landon was when Brooklyn was born. WOW!

Brooklyn's two favorite activities are jumping (hopping or 'dumping' off of steps, furniture, etc.) and twirling (until she's so dizzy she falls down).

Mama's night away! Daddys & kids' day!

Brooklyn holds up her pointer finger right up by her nose and says, "time" when she is requesting something 'one more time.' (i.e. "Book, time" means 'read me that book one more time.')

Jr. multi-sports camp - more soccer, baseball, football and track & field. He claims his favorite sport was track & field because he liked "hopping through the rectangles." (He was one of the only kids that could hop with both feet.)

We created a costume basket, which has already provided hours of entertainment.

Buckets of water and paint brushes make for a fun afternoon (with his buddy, Atlas).

Landon's hair does not appear to be growing back curly since we chopped it. :((( Daniel is in big trouble with me because he was the one who wanted to cut it, I wasn't ready for the curls to be gone, but he convinced me they would come back. He's still a handsome and happy boy, but I miss the curls!

Bad (terrible) news: Landon has given up naps. :-(((((((

Good news: His favorite "quiet time" activities include vacuuming, mopping and wiping the fridge & playroom floor clean.

Landon loves to log roll!

Landon has a pair of shoes that he has named his "happy shoes." When he had a couple rough weeks of being dropped off at preschool (and the teachers pretended to call me from school to make him feel better), one morning he put on some new shoes (with Toy Story characters on them). He said they were his happy shoes and would make him happy at school so the teachers wouldn't even have to call me. And, oh my gosh, they worked! Every school day he insists on wearing them, and he hasn't had a problem since. He chooses to wear them elsewhere as well, and now Brooklyn even claims she has happy shoes (Minnie Mouse slippers).

Temecula Greek Festival - say "OPAH!"

Brooklyn, in the backseat of the car: "Mommy, stop seeming (singing). My turn." Well, ok.

Big boy bounce house - Jacob was helping push him over the top because every time a big kid ran through, Landon would get bounced back the other way.

Landon is really into puzzles and mazes these days, which he enjoyed with Pappou when he came for a visit.

Fall Festival at Jacob's school
Landon generally shies away from slides, especially tall ones, so when he wanted to go in this bounce house which requires climbing up about 15 feet and sliding down both Daniel and I wondered what would happen to the line of kids when our little guy changed his mind and had to go back the opposite way to get out. But this guy showed no hesitation whatsoever! And he loved it! And went back a few times! (Poor Brooklyn cried, "[me] TOO! [me] TOO!" as she frequently does when Landon does or is invited to do bigger kid things - she would have gone "too!" if she could have!)

When Brooklyn wants something to stop (i.e. giving her chicken, Landon hitting her, riding in the car, etc.), she says, "No gang ku, no gang ku" (no thank you).

He was sure happy when we surprised him with his half birthday stack of half pancakes (with syrup, sprinkles & a candle, of course). He had know idea it was his half birthday until we started singing.

My favorite little Thor/Viking

...and my other favorite!
When the cat was away at preschool, the mouse put on the "Thor" hat, insisted it was hers and searched the house for the Thor "hamma".

Brooklyn tried a gymnastics class and LOVED it! (However, it was very parent-participation, so I didn't get pictures to show just how much fun she was having.)

When she wants someone to help her, she says "help oo" (help you/me).

Brooklyn's "yay-ga-bud" = ladybug

Exploring the duck pond

...and trying to hug all of the ducks.

Brooklyn's love of animals continues.

They love their matching Halloween jammies!

Halloween "PREformance" (as Landon calls it) & trick-or-treating parade at school - grey hammerhead shark in the back row, second kid from the right.

Brooklyn chased the sheep around, arms wide. When she would catch it, she would give a big hug and kiss it's backside. So gross, but what a sweet animal lover!

When they were standing and I said, "Everyone put your head down on the side of the truck" I didn't mean it quite so literally.
