October 2018

We started out the month of October at our favorite pumpkin patch, Peltzer Farms, for a lilttle friend's birthday party.

Here they are reenacting one of our favorite photos of Fall 2015...

2015

Landon and I decorated the house for Halloween. It's so cute how much he loves to decorate!

Ms. Jen, one of Brooklyn's preschool teachers, said that one day they were playing a game with all of the kids in a circle where one child went in the middle at a time to do a dance or whatever they wanted. When it was Brooklyn's turn, Jen saw her face and asked if she wanted to skip her turn. Brooklyn immediately responded (with a very straight face) with, "Yes, forever and always at this game I choose to skip."

Landon and I took on Walk to School Day with Road Trip BINGO on our stroll.

Landon participated in a Fun Run at school. He did great, ran the whole time with the exception of a water break at each lap for the last 10 laps (most kindergartners walked most of the time). He finished with the maximum number of laps they count (36), and Brooklyn and I got to watch!

We got rid of Brooklyn's trike since she's so good on the balance bike and is starting to ride her big girl bike, but she wanted to take the trike for one last spin in the hallway.

Papou and Babcia came to visit when they got back from Greece, just in time for the Temecula Greek Festival.

We also headed to the pumpkin patch with the whole Kelepouris family.

These kids love each other (94% of the time) SO much! One day they spent 4 hours playing upstairs with each other. It was difficult just getting them to come downstairs for dinner.

Brooklyn and I had a couple of mini-dates while Landon was at school. We went to a few parks and, by her request, went to McDonald's. (Who knows why she requested that since the only other time she went there was when she was about a year old!)

We went to visit Grammie and Papa for a quick weekend to get pictures taken of the kids. Since they did so well at pictures, we took them to the Balboa Fun Zone via the ferry. Landon was feeling daring (for him) and went on the Ferris heel with Daniel, the free fall ride and the trampoline trick thing (which he said he would try a back flip on but changed his mind) after playing the arcade games.

While staying at Grammie's house we ventured out to a new park that was really fun (then ended up at he fan favorite, Pavion Park). We played a lot of soccer in the backyard and, per Landon's request, ate on the patio several times.

We celebrated Landon's half birthday with the usual (half everything foods with sprinkles, candles and half birthday songs throughout the day)! He's 3'9" tall.

We had an impromptu pumpkin patch day and invited the cousins. Jacob was at school and Lucas was napping, so it was just the 3 musketeers. They spent most of their time bouncing and had a great doing it!

The girls wore their coordinating (Supergirl & Wonder Woman) costumes to Kids' Club before costume ballet class.

They also got to go on another field trip (which Landon and I joined in on). This time it was to Town Puppies where we got to play with all the cute puppies (and make masks)!

Landon and I attended Caden Rivas' birthday party at Mulligan Family Fun Center. He had a great time running around, driving the race car, riding the tea cups (alone because the one with the other boys went too fast), riding the freefall ride over and over, playing mini golf and playing laser tag for the first time! I was impressed with the way he was sticking up for Caden saying things like, "Why don't we let Caden decide since it's his birthday," "Caden, what do you want to do?" and "Let's let Caden go first because it's his birthday" when the other kids weren't thinking that way.

I asked Landon to snuggle with me one day, and he gave me this look with his eyebrows raised super high and the biggest eyes he could manage. From then on that's what he does when I ask for a snuggle.

Megan celebrated her birthday in Denver and invited us to tag along. We had a great time at breweries, yummy restaurants, scooter-ing around the city and hiking by Red Rocks Amphitheater.

While we were gone, Grammie and Papa came to watch the kids. They went Trunk or Treating at Landon's school, attended Landon's last soccer game & end-of-the-season party (where he was awarded Most Improved) and a symphony performance of Disney music (with Grammie, Papa, Auntie Gail & Uncle Fred), put puzzles together and played with chocolate pudding. They had a great weekend!

We returned with just enough time to carve pumpkins with the cousins. Landon did his jack-o-lantern almost all on his own, and Brooklyn decided to have Daddy make her a hammerhead shark.

That night Brooklyn was having a rough time getting ready for bed. I was rocking with her in the glider, and she leaned back, sobbing and yelling, "I don't want to go to bed! I want to be NOCTURNAALLLLLLLL!!!"

Daniel's co-workers dressed up as Harry Potter characters, and he was assigned "Professor Snape."

We had a fun Halloween!

Landon got to dress as Iron Man for Literary Character Day at school and bring in his first book report (decorate a pumpkin like a character) project - Clifford (dressing up like a ghost) from Clifford's Halloween.

Brooklyn dressed in Landon's hammerhead costume (from 2 years ago) to trick or treat at Kids Club and in the neighborhood at preschool.

I had the kids "dig for worms" before we went to the Halloween party at Peter and Amber's house. Landon was fully on board, but Brooklyn took some time (and Daddy's example) before she dug in.

We then headed over to the party then off to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood with the cousins. After a bit Brooklyn wanted to pass out candy with Daddy, Peter and Lucas at their house. She didn't seem to realize that she was giving out her own candy! Landon and I continued trick-or-treating with Amber and Zoe. Brooklyn and Daniel joined us on our way home and on our street.
'Knight Jacob' went trick-or-treating before we could get a pic of all 5 cousins

As soon as we got home the kids spread out their candy, sorted (by candy type, then color then shape) then traded. I asked if they wanted to donate any candy to kids that didn't get to Trick or Treat, and they took that very seriously. Both ended up with smaller piles for themselves than what they wanted to donate. Landon took it farther and told us about the "people that live at the park that can have a picnic with our candy...We should buy them toothbrushes too. But where will they spit? Maybe they could live at a park where there's a bathroom because then they will have somewhere to spit. OH! Or we could take them to a Open House to live! Because they have bathrooms and everything there they need!" How I wish it were that easy, but watching his wheels turn to try to help people was so, so sweet. It was a GREAT way to end a fantastic night!

Until next month...
