October is one of the kids' favorite months (Halloween is Brooklyn's #2 and Landon's #3 favorite holiday), and, even with quarantining, we had a lot of fun! And Daniel and I got to have our first date since March!

Landon decided to create a home for his stuffed bat out of a cardboard box. He made a bedroom with a bed & pillow, a kitchen with a water bowl & fake foods and a family room with a tooth brush, toothpaste, floss, a timer, some toys and a motorcycle to ride.
One day Landon decided to clean his room and the bonus room without anyone asking him to do so. He was rewarded so much that he and Brooklyn have done it several times since! Lately Landon has also asked, "Is there anything I can do to help?" when I'm getting dinner ready. I love how sweet he is!!
Summer reading pile of books:
The kids asked to eat dinner by themselves on the porch with their little table & chairs one night and for me to serve them like they're at a restaurant and I don't know them. (They use such good manners when they're not talking to Mommy!) Brooklyn accidentally knocked the table over (the last leg must not have been locked) twice in a row, flipped her plateup-side-down onto the ground. I thought she would be really upset, but without skipping a beat, she just got right to picking all of it up. What a big girl!
Landon attained a goal and requested a banana split party! Both kids devoured their banana split aside from the banana. Neither even touched their banana, but they loved the chocolate, vanilla & strawberry ice creams! Also, Brooklyn always wants to buy flowers at the grocery store, so I bought some sunflowers one day. She was soooo happy to have them right next to her where she eats breakfast and lunch!
During Landon's parent-teacher conference his teacher said she's confident he's right on track. Brooklyn's teacher revealed that she's both great and very quiet. No surprises about either!
We got tested for COVID-19 so when we visited Grammie and Papa we felt comfortable staying the weekend and hanging out like usual rather than with masks in the backyard. We were all VERY excited to be able to spend the time with them (almost) like normal. As soon as we arrived, the kids decorated their room with Halloween decor. We watched a movie in the backyard, played Halloween games, picked oranges off the tree and made orange juice, read stories, played soccer and ran through sprinklers in the backyard and watched the 49er game before heading home. It was so much fun!The first morning we woke up at home after being at Grammie's house Landon cried almost immediately after waking up "because I am used to being at Grammie's and now I'm here...I miss Grammie...I only got to be there 2 nights..." and had an extremely rough morning. They finished school quickly so they could run upstairs and video call Grammie on the new Echo Show. Landon read "What Should Danny Do" to Grammie, and Brooklyn showed Grammie her artwork.
This guy got a desparately needed haircut!
We had great weather and were able to do school in the backyard several days this month. Brooklyn was supposed to have a carved pumpkin for class the morning of the night we were going to carve ours virtually with the cousins. So instead, we carved fruit, Brooklyn did a watermenlon, Landon a canteloupe and Daniel a pineapple, while I supervised. They turned out very cute, were delicious and made for decorative food displays on Halloween!
Both kids enjoyed sharing their fruit carvings with their classes.
Later that night, over Zoom, we carved pumpkins while the cousins carved at their house. L's was a scary skeleton face and B's was a ghost.
Of course the year Halloween landed on a Saturday was smack in the middle of COVID-19 so no party, but we had a great day.
Everythng is better with dry ice!
Brooklyn wanted to be Mal from Decendents 3 for quite a while, and when we went to pick up her costume at the store Landon decided he wanted to as well. (They both tell me that they wish they were twins in real life!)
Instead of trick-or-treating we invited the Rogers over for a stay-at-(our-)home-Halloween.
They began the afternoon on the trampoline...
...then played a whole bunch of Halloween games...
...then had a candy scavenger hunt throughout the house (fan favorite)...
...ate yummy snacks, enchiladas and desserts...
...and, of course, sorted and traded their loot!
One morning Landon twisted a loose tooth so much that it got stuck and he wasn't sure which way to untwist it. He lost the tooth (which was one we had an appointment with the dentist to pull but, luckily, got to cancel). The tooth fairy was extra generous since she didn't have to pay for the dentist to extract it!
The Dodgers won the World Series about 5 minutes after we put the kids to bed, so I whispered that anyone who cheered "Go Dodgers" loud enough for Daddy to hear could stay up later. Both kids became fans immediately, although Landon's fandom was only temporary.
Landon received the Student of the Week and got to share his virual poster with the class.
Mal reading her spell book and tagging the fence (with silly string):
The kids ended the night by watching "The Addams Family" from the hot tub. We had such a great time that all 4 kids said that they would rather have a Coronavirus Halloween every year than go trick-or-treating...success!!
