Landon - Month 4

Landon is now 4 months old.

In the last month...
- He weighs 13lbs 14oz (32nd percentile) and is 24.5" long (37th percentile). (Apparently my measurement last month wasn't all that accurate...either that or he shrunk an inch. Whoops! This month's measurements are from the doc's office.)

- We moved Landon into his nursery. (We had been putting it off because it was so much easier to have him sleeping in our room...but it was time.) He is getting better at not waking up so much in the middle of the night. (We're trying the cry-it-out method for short intervals...hopefully it isn't as hard on him as it is for us!)

- We've found that he's a side-sleeper. We put him down on his back, and if he's not swaddled he rolls over to his left side and IMMEDIATELY falls asleep.

- He still loves his hands and chews on them CONSTANTLY. They are either clasped together or one or both are in his mouth at almost all times.

- Landon recently discovered his feet. He often grabs and holds on to them, which is especially inconvenient when we're trying to change his diaper.

- He loves to read. He was getting pretty good at turning the pages, but now he prefers to turn a page halfway then try to put that page in his mouth.

- He's grabbing for things more and more. He will reach out for toys, pull on rings hanging from his car seat, pull down Gerome the Giraffe from above the changing table, etc.

- The pediatrician thinks he has reflux. He's on medication to help reduce the spit-up, and we're hopeful that one of the meds we try will work for him.

- Not only does he spit up, but he's a major drooler these days as well. It's a good thing we have so many cute outfits because we do several wardrobe changes each day. :)

- Landon has gotten much better at sitting up. He's not able to sit all on his own, but he seems to enjoy spending time in his Bumbo chairs and Exersaucer. The Exersaucer has so many fun little activities to keep him entertained (while Daniel and I rest our arms).

- I am lucky enough to be able to go back to work part-time so that I can spend most days with Landon and still have some adult-time and responsibility (other than the ultimate responsibility of  parenting, of course). Daniel is also lucky - he gets to spend each Sunday with the little guy doing some manly bonding. When I go to work on weekdays, Landon seems to really enjoy his days spent with Kendra, who conveniently lives right down the street from us. She's great about sending updates and pictures throughout the day so that we can see the fun he's having!

- We had a fun month of activities, including the following:

     - Uncle Peter, Auntie Amber and Cousin Jacob visited us  in Temecula. Jake is an AMAZING big cousin - he's so gentle and loving. He talks about all of the things he's going to teach Landon when Landon gets big enough, but for now Jake holds him, kisses his head and shares his love of books with Landon.

     - Landon and I spent our first evenings together without Daddy. Daniel had a fun weekend with friends in Arizona, and we...survived (with the help of a few volunteer babysitters - Papa, Gramma Zimmy and Uncle Matt - while I went to work on Sunday!). Daniel was hoping to get some extra sleep without any crying babies on the trip...I don't know, though that he went to bed any too early.

     - We attended a "Thrift Store" themed party, where everyone dressed in attire from a thrift store. Landon did dress-up (but only after his clothing was triple-washed!). He, as usual, looked very cute!

     - We were able to Skype with Papou and Babcia while they're vacationing in Greece and introduce Landon to a bunch of his Greek relatives.

     - Landon joined us at the Del Mar Racetrack. We allowed him to choose a horse on one of the races. As you can see in the picture below, he chose Fuzzy Logic (the 'Fuzzy' part is quite fitting for this family!), who ended up scratching. (We're fairly certain, though, that had Fuzzy Logic raced he would have won.) This was a tiring day - he couldn't even stay awake to change into his PJs!

- In general, he's a very happy, smiley baby, and we are so grateful for that!

That's about it for this month...see ya later, alligator!
