Landon - Month 10

Landon is now 10 months old.

In the last month...
- He weighs 19lbs 7oz (21st percentile) and is 27.75" long (18th percentile).

- His is more verbal than ever (and we have a feeling he will only get more and more chatty as time goes by). He finds a new sound about each week and gets stuck on that one. (Sadly, "mama" has not yet been a sound of the week.) He's added "nana" (banana) and "ight" (light) recently, and he's pretty good at pointing (more like reaching toward) each of those out.

- Landon still loves books. He will now go to the corner where we keep some of his books, sort through them, throwing those aside that he is not interested in, and pick one out. Then he crawls either with it in his hand or while swatting it across the floor to the closest person. He will hand the book to that person and try to crawl into their lap to be read to while he turns the pages. It's so fun! (When you get to the end and he flips it over to start again, reading the same book the eleventh time in a row, however, is not quite as fun as the first time.)

- At Landon's 2 month old appointment the pediatrician said he was already teething...finally, at 9.5 months, his first tooth (bottom left) came in. Supposedly, his next teeth that appear to be coming in are his fangs (before the middle teeth on the top!). I guess we'll have to wait and see whether or not the pediatrician's prediction of a mini-vampire is accurate.

- He loves having us help him walk around and is beginning to stand on his own for 10-15 seconds at a time. He's definitely capable of it, but he needs more confidence. As soon as he realizes he's not holding onto anything stable (the amount of time depends on his distractibility) he slowly squats down into a sit. (We like to think that the very slow sink into a sit shows exceptional balance and control.) ;-)

- He's eating more these days. A few of his favorites are toast, cheese and pasta. Hmmm, I wonder where he gets that from...

- He still reaches his arm out for everything. He wants to touch it all!

- We celebrated our first Valentine's Day with the little guy as a family. He made a pretty cute Valentine!

- We recently headed to Coronado for a day to enjoy the sand, grass and sunshine. You've got to love February in San Diego!

For some reason Landon felt more comfortable and confident trying to stand on his own in the sand. We thought it would be a more difficult place to keep his balance, but perhaps it's just the opposite and he's smarter than his parents.

- The lucky little guy got to spend a weekend with his Grammie and Papa and Auntie Sheila while Daniel and I had a few nights away in northern California visiting some friends (our first time away from him for more than just a night). I'm sure he had an awful time, missing us terribly, but somehow the only pictures we have seem to tell a different story.

What a fun month it has been to watch him grow. We're really looking forward to all of the milestones to come!
