Landon - One Year

Landon is now 1 year old.

In the last month...
- He weighs 20lbs 14oz (23rd percentile) and is 30.5" long (75th percentile). (Let me just say that I don't know how accurate the measurements really are since we measured him 2 days before and he was 2" shorter than when the nurse measured him, but we're going with the official doctor's office measurement that puts him above the 50th percentile for the first time since he was 3 months old!)

- Landon is a walking machine. Okay...that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but he does walk! He has been taking 2 or 3 steps here and there for a couple of weeks, and he started walking last Friday. Of course he chose to do this during the 90 minutes neither Daniel nor I were there. Papou and Babcia (Daniel's parents) were in town babysitting, and, luckily, they were able to capture his first few steps on video. It's so much fun to see him toddle here and there, from one room to the next and from the sidewalk to the grass, with his arms up to balance.

- He gives hugs now. :)

- He has added a few words to his vocabulary..."pl(ease)", "(r)woar" when asked what a lion says, "(k)eyssss", "Mama" (finally!), "Papa" (Nicole's dad), "o-tie (outside)", "da(oor)", "bubba(les)" and a few others.

- Landon often points to things and says "no no" while he wags his arm, pointed finger and all, back and forth, mimicking me. It's pretty funny because he knows which things are "no no" items, but he likes to push the boundaries. He will touch something he knows he shouldn't while saying "no no", then look back at us while he wags his finger. This started with the TV remote control; he would pick it up and say "no no". We thought he thought that's what it was called.

- He loves to climb on anything and everything. Luckily he isn't quite tall enough to get on most things that he wants to.
- Landon has recently begun to earn his keep via manual labor (finally!). He unloads all of the spoons from the dishwasher...and he LOVES doing it!

- He always wants to be like the adults.

- Landon loves playing chase/hide-and-seek around the dining room table.

-He really enjoys being outside and constantly points to the sliding glass door asking/demanding to be taken out. If he's ever in a cranky mood, a walk around the pool, pointing out avocados growing on the tree, taking out the trash cans, chasing bubbles (as he is requesting in the below video) or crawling in the grass really puts him in a good mood EVERYtime!

- We've spent quite a bit of time in the pool (the not-so-hot tub), and he just got blowing bubbles down. He's also got a decent butterfly stroke going on! We're working on floating on his back.

- Landon celebrated his last of the first holidays in good fashion. Easter with the Zimmerman family was celebrated early in Mission Viejo.

     - Greek Easter was celebrated with the Kelepouris' at our house in Temecula. In total, Landon received 6 Easter baskets and had 2 Easter egg hunts...what a lucky guy!

- We had a great time celebrating his very first birthday with some friends and family last weekend.

     - We had a "little man" themed party with lots of bow ties and mustaches.
All you need to know about Landon (on the chalkboard wall in his playroom)

     - At the party he was able to enjoy his first sugar experience...and enjoy it, he did!

- Landon spent his actual birthday doing all of his favorites...
      - Playing with balloons

     - Going for a walk and playing on the swings & slide at the park

     - Supervising the gardener (perhaps the highlight of his day)

     - Going for a dip in the pool

     - Skyping with family

     - Creating an art project

     - Opening gifts

     - Taking long naps

     - Eating his first cookie (which Daniel and I shared with him...for his own health!).

What a day! We feel so fortunate to have such a happy boy!

We are so lucky to have been able to celebrate his first year of life with him and with many of our family and friends! We cannot believe it has been a whole year...time really does fly by! We are looking forward to another year of memories, firsts, fun and love with our little man!
