January 2018

2017 was a great year! And we had a great start to 2018 with our "baby" turning THREE!

We got this back from Landon's school in the beginning of the year. I love that when he was making his Santa List he thought of his little sister. He's such a sweet boy!

We love playing in the front yard, especially as soon as Daddy gets home from work!

Brooklyn and I have been loving kicking and stomping on leaves on walks.

Playing in the rain:

Brooklyn got her very first haircut (by me). It made such a difference to trim just that little bit. To us, at least, she looks like a bigger girl now. We made a salon day (blow dry in Mommy's bathroom) out of it.

Mommy's dresses:

Candlelit and glow stick dinners (while Daddy fixes electrical stuff) are the best!

January was the last month of Brooklyn's gymnastics in the Parent-and-Me class. She did great!

Landon got to go miniature golfing at Jacob's birthday party with the big boys (and had several holes in two)!

He and I went to the Temecula DanceXchange with Addy and Ms. Andrea to watch the local dancers. His favorite part was running around outside, playing with Addy and Briella, whom we happened to stumble upon.

"Show me your sweet face."

She loves her rain boots! And jumping in puddles!

Fun at the park:

Big girl loves her daddy's skateboard (and definitely rides it more than he does)!

Brooklyn's "favorite tree" happens to be in our front yard, waiting to be climbed!

Froyo family date:

Big boy likes getting "homework" from Mommy to do during quiet time. White boards and worksheets are the best!

Family Nature Walk Day

"Booklyn, I heard a rattlesnake I think." (There was no rattlesnake.)

Siamese mermaids:

This boy was MORE THAN excited to start watching Star Wars. In about a month he's seen the first 5 Star Wars episodes (in the order they came out). He and Daddy have enjoyed spending this bonding time together. And we all have been playing all of the different Star Wars roles all month long.

Mommy and Daddy's bed is so comfy!!

Family Fondue Night was amazing! The kids liked it, but I think Daniel and I enjoyed it even more than them.

"Luke Skywalker" and "Princess Leia":

Grammie and Papa gave Daniel 2 tickets to Indoor Skydiving, which included babysitting. We took full advantage and had a great time "skydiving" (although not nearly as nerve-wracking as the real thing, it was a lot of fun!), hiking & dinner with friends, a night in a hotel and a morning of walking on the beach. We had a bet with the kiddos about who was having more fun, us or them, hence the cheesy pictures.

Brooklyn got a real big girl bed! She was soooo excited to have a big bed (with a trundle for sleepovers).

These cousins love going to school together (99% of the time)!!

Puzzle time!

Brooklyn wanted to help bake her own birthday cupcakes. She had so much fun  pouring, stirring and decorating them!

We had a fun birthday celebration at home for our 3 year old with close friends and family!

Landon got to sleep over in Brooklyn's trundle bed for their first sleepover. They tried the night of the party, but she talked too much for his liking so he went to his own bed. The next night they tried again, and Brooklyn was tossing and turning (but not talking) so much that Landon said it was keeping him awake. I could hear him telling her, "Booklyn, I'm not leaving to make you sad, okay? I'm just leaving because you keep waking me up. But I'm not leaving so you'll be sad." (because she was very upset when he left the night before). He went to his own bed and fell asleep, but at some point in the night he moved back into her room "because I wanted the coldest sheets." Daniel found him on the trundle in the morning. :)

While Grammie, Papa and Uncle Matt Matt were in town, we went to a new ice cream place.

The day before Brooklyn's actual birthday, she needed an immediate potty stop while we were at the bank next to the grocery store. We ran into the grocery store, Baron's Market, and, as a reward for telling me she had to go, holding it and going in the potty she got a make a "Baron's salad" (salad bar) for lunch. It was, perhaps, her favorite reward yet because Baron's salads are what DADDY gets. For some reason, the kids think they are AMAZING!

Landon started taking karate this month. He LOVES it and is doing GREAT already! He does an excellent job of focusing and following instructions! I think he thinks he training to be a Jedi Knight. After the first time, I asked how he liked it. He said he loved it so much that he wanted to "stay there forever."

Happy 3rd birthday, sweet girlie! She had a birthday of her favorites: oatmeal (with a candle), a donut (which she ordered and paid for on her own now that she's a big girl), the park (where we met her cousins), birthday burpees (not necessarily a favorite, but she and Zoe had fun doing them), another Baron's salad (this time Landon was excited to get one too), cards & gifts (including a special card that Landon made for her that he was too excited to wait to give her), dinner at "the restaurant that frows shrimp in my mouth" that has a new policy of not throwing shrimp in mouths, topped off with a cupcake while watching a movie (collection of home videos) of her last year. Landon had success with chopsticks (with the kid connector). Daniel's day was not quite as fun as the rest of ours with work, a dead car battery and a broken cell phone.
