This month Daniel and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary! While Grammie and Papa held down the fort, we spent the weekend in San Diego. We started out the weekend hiking Potato Chip Rock.
Then we checked into our "hotel" at the harbor, "Flight Risk".
It was really fun to stay on the boat (minus the feeling of sleeping in a coffin...about 6" of space between our faces and the ceiling)! And there was lots of eating and walking.
We exchanged letters to each other written around our first anniversary, which were really fun to read!
And the Rogers joined us for dinner & drinks, as they also happened to be in Little Italy that night!
Hanging out on the boat was awesome!
We ended the weekend in downtown San Diego, scootering to lunch at Sushi Deli 2!
On our actual anniversary we watched our wedding video with the kids and Greek danced, followed by driving thru McDonald's for ice cream.
One day I found a lizard skin that an alligator lizard shed in our house. As freaked out (and slightly interested...you could even see the individual toes!) by it as I was, Brooklyn was REALLY into it.
Daniel and I have both gotten accupuncture for the first time recently.
Landon and Zoe's soccer season ended....they will miss playing together after practice!
Brooklyn's MyGym membership also ended...she'll miss her teachers and the free play time in the gym!
To celebrate her final day at MyGym (since we always see one of the other kids in her class go straight to donuts after), we picked up a donut for her...and she requested one for Landon too then wouldn't eat hers until he got home from school. They are (usually) so sweet with one another! They have even created sticker charts for each other to show appreciation for the nice things the other has done for them. I love their bond!
Daddy was away and the Warriors were in the playoffs, so the kids wanted to send him pictures of themselves in their gear.
This girl has her own sense of style!
Our old ExerSaucer came back to us, and the kids love playing with it. They even reenacted my favorite early video of the two of them.
We started a new system in our house to deal with toys being left everywhere. Now, if it gets left out it goes in the bucket. This has made for some moments of real unhappiness (Landon) and has also made us realize that Brooklyn couldn't care less and will just find new favorite toys to play with or shoes to wear.
After calming down we explained that they can earn back their timed-out toys by doing extra chores. It works out well for everyone. :)
Daniel had to head out to Belgium and Netherlands again. We missed him over Memorial Week but kept busy. Sooooo...Pencil grips! That look like owls! And Daddy is (or pretends to be) afraid of owls...so we send him pictures of them!
We bought our house almost 10 years ago, and ever since then I've despised the wallpaper in the dining room. I put off removing it for so long but finally got around to it. It turns out there's such a thing as "peelable wallpaper," and it's way easier to remove than old-school wallpaper!
We visited the Fenwicks' campsite at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula and had so much fun playing in the creek & in the motorhome, playing soccer & flag football, bike riding and messing around with buddies.
The next day we joined Melis, Addison & Kaylee at the Vista Strawberry Festival, Handel's ice cream, making pizzas and watching a movie at their house. The kids love each other so much! :)
...and these kids love each other so much!!!
We've been playing outside a bunch, on bikes & scooters and playing basketball with Landon's new best friend, Aiden. Aiden lives next door, and just this month he and Landon started playing together. They both LOVE hanging out with each other and playing together. It's so fun for them to be able to run next door to see if the other can play!
When Landon was a baby he used to love riding through the car wash, but it's been quite a while since he last did. It startled him at first, but, again, he loved it!
We went to the blueberry farm down the street and stayed for the movie on the side of the barn.
Brooklyn's teacher has sent pictures saying she's very diligent (especially when it comes to stickers) and a little lady (see pose in picture #2).
One night Daniel took Landon to dinner and to see the local "We Will Rock You" musical. They had a great time and came home with some new (to Landon) 80's rock songs to play on Alexa.
Grammie & Papa came to hang out with the kiddos while I headed to a girls' weekend in San Diego.
We spent the weekend at the Kona Kai Resort relaxing.
While I was away, Daniel took the kids in the hot tub.
Brooklyn had a Mom's Spa Day at Giggles & Gluesticks to kick off Mother's Day weekend. She pampered me by doing my hair and make-up (and refused to do my nails or massage).
Our Mother's Day celebration at home was perfect! It began with several games of UNO in bed.
I received cards, gifts and flowers from our garden!
Then I sat on the couch and watched the 3 of them fold laundry...
...followed by Landon's soccer game, where he did great...
...and ice cream sandwiches.
...and Landon and I traded pedicures while Daniel cooked some of my favorites...
...then we played games and had more dessert.
Daniel had a leadership conference right down the street at South Coast Winery & Resort, so the kids and I took advantage of the resort. After school we headed over to check out the hotel room, swim and eat dinner in the hotel room! We got to see Daniel briefly and had so much fun that we headed back the next day after school (like we were on vacation but got to sleep in our own beds)! We swam again, watched a movie ("The Grinch") in bed with popcorn, took a giant bubble bath (with lollipops) and saw Daddy again. It was so much fun pretending like we were on vacation!

Brooklyn was excited to go in the pool, and she got herself all ready. This is actually a one piece swimsuit with the nexk at her waist and arms in the leg holes (and a spare swimsuit bottom).. |
