We began the month of July in SLO with the Rogers leading up to the official 4th of July Bacation. Obviously all of it was AMAZING (and detailed on the 4th of July blog post)!
July was the month of the beach. Okay, we technically only went a couple of times, but they were really great days!
The kids' favorite meal to help cook is stir fry and fried rice. Here's Brooklyn preparing the veggies to cook.
The kids decided they wanted to dump out and sort ALL of the Legos so they can create buildings, etc using every single one. (It's the end of September as I write this, and we are FAR from using them all!)
Grammie sent us a new backyard game, tether tennis. Landon LOVES it and wanted to play it all the time for about a month! I randomly ran across a picture circa 1987 of Grammie, Uncle Matt Matt and me in the backyard by our tether tennis pole.
Brooklyn still prefers jumping on the trampoline.
For a while, Amber and I were walking together on Fridays (one of us on the sidewalk and the other 6ft away in the street), and Brooklyn really wanted to join us. A couple of mornings she and I went on walks together, and one day Auntie Amber picked her up for a walk, just the two of them. She loves the one-on-one time!
Brooklyn asked me to buy brussel sprouts and cocolate at the grocery store so she could dip a raw brussel sprout in the chocolate and serve it to Daddy as a prank. We all had a really good laugh when Daddy bit into it thinking it was going to be a yummy chocolately dessert and then spit it out because it was so gross! So much so that she wanted to do it to Uncle Peter since we were going over there that night...except Uncle Peter thought it was delicious (so it wasn't as funny)!
Peter and Amber got their backyard redone with a new BBQ and firepit, and we were invited to enjoy dinner and s'mores with the new setup. The end of the night was SO much fun when we went around the firepit telling spooky (and other) stories with each person saying one word then moving on to the next person. Highlights of this included multiple uses of the words owl (with Daniel's scream following each one), poop, dead fish, fire, butt and fart as well as Daniel echoing questions to help the little ones create details of the story (i.e. "what color was it?!" or "how many bears were there?!" in a weird backup singer/echo-y voice - it doesn't sound as funny as it was in real life) - by the end of Luke's night (and, from what I heard, for the next several days) he was mimicing the echo voice/questions!
We had another really fun day at the beach (Moonlight again, but this time just the 4 of us)! We got to climb on a huge pile of climbing rocks, played in the waves (although the water was not quite as perfectly warm as the previous weekend), the boys played frisbee while the girls went on a stroll down the beach, Daniel burried Brooklyn and we followed up with ice cream and the dog park again.
Trying to carry all of the heavy treasures back to our spot
Ms. Marielouise let Brooklyn and I take Oso for a walk again.
We got into a few Kiwi/Koala Crates, which are always so fun!
...and chemistry experiments too!

We celebrated Brooklyn's (5 and a) half birthday, per the usual half every food with sprinkles and a candle.
The "stuffies" celebrated with her by sorting and divvying up all of the candy from our candy bucket.
And Daddy took them in the hot tub.
This is them showing HALF their bodies for the half bday picture.
Here, Brooklyn was reading while "surfing" (balancing) on the gliding ottoman.

We've had a whole lot of biking time, and Brooklyn was interested in trying to skateboard on Daddy's big skateboard (and was back to wearing the dalmation ears & tail constantly). She practiced for a few days, then Landon started to try too. Both of them improved a bunch over the time they were practicing, and they were so excited to show Daniel their progress each day when he got home from work!
We got to visit Grammie and Papa in their backyard (then somehow snuck our way into the house and into Grammie's lap)!
It was amazing (for all)!!!
